Carrasco 32 thousandths away from victory in Race 2

It was an electrifying end to the weekend for the Evan Bros Racing Yamaha Team, with a Race 2 that saw Ana Carrasco protagonist until the very last moment. The Spanish rider battled for victory right up to the chequered flag, taking a precious second place.

Starting from the fourth row of the grid, Carrasco immediately recovered a position at the start, chasing the lead. After a few laps a group of four riders, including Ana, made the difference on the rest of the pack, preparing to fight for the win in the final stages. Carrasco managed it intelligently, starting the last lap in the lead: coming out of the last corner Ana suffered an attack from Sanchez, finishing second under the chequered flag by just 32 thousandths.

By virtue of the weekend's results Carrasco strengthens his first position in the overall standings, with an 18-point lead over Herrera. The grand finale of the 2024 Women's World Championship will be staged next weekend, at the historic track of Jerez de la Frontera.

Ana Carrasco
“The victory was really close, at the end of a very difficult race, with a large group of riders fighting. I tried to keep the lead as much as possible, and so I managed to start the last lap in first position: I only thought about pushing as hard as I could, and although I lost the victory by a few thousandths I can be happy. It was an almost perfect weekend with pole, a win yesterday and a second place today. Now we have one last crucial weekend ahead of us: we are one step closer to the dream, but there are still a lot of points available, so no mistakes are allowed”.

Fabio Evangelista (Team Principal)
“What can I say, yesterday was my birthday and Ana gave me an excellent weekend. She led the race very well today, and only a few thousandths separated her from another victory. The goal of the weekend was to increase the lead in the overall standings and we achieved that, so we can be very satisfied. Now a little rest and then we will be ready for the last exciting weekend of the season”.
