A crash prevents Debise from fighting for a podium finish in Race 1 at Phillip Island

Bitter first race day of the year for the Evan Bros. WorldSSP Yamaha Team. In Race 1 Valentin Debise showed good things, staying in the fight for the podium until the ninth lap, when a crash put an early end to his race.

After finishing Warm Up 1 in third place, Debise took to the track for Race 1. Starting well, the Frenchman was able to defend his starting position, taking fourth place during the third lap.

With nine laps to go, the Frenchman made his tyres change, returning to the track in sixth place, with four riders ahead of him who had not yet returned to the pits for the tyres change. Unfortunately, however, on the same lap Debise crashed in Turn 6, with no consequences.

The Evan Bros. WorldSSP Yamaha Team and Debise will try for a better result tomorrow, when - after Warm Up 2 - Race 2 will be staged, scheduled for 14.30 local time.

Valentin Debise
"I made a good start, managing to stay in the leading group. We postponed the pit stop slightly compared to the plans, and once back on the track I was in a very good situation. In an attempt to gain a margin over the other riders I crashed, and of course I am sorry. Tomorrow we have another chance, starting from P4, so I remain motivated".
