Fabio Evangelista (Team Principal)

Caricasulo scores first points for ZXMOTO in Supersport Race 1, Debise crashes while

fighting for podium

The first day of racing for ZXMOTO Factory Evan Bros Racing at Phillip Island ended on a bittersweet note. Valentin Debise's impressive speed in practice did not translate into a positive result due to a crash, while Federico Caricasulo earned ZXMOTO its first ever points in WorldSSP thanks to a 14th place finish.

After fine-tuning the last details in the Warm Up, which Debise and Caricasulo finished in 8th and 13th place respectively, the two ZXMOTO Factory Evan Bros Racing riders took to the track for Race 1. Valentin got off to a good start from the front row, immediately joining the fight for the podium. However, his race changed with 11 laps to go due to a crash at turn four. The Frenchman managed to get back on his bike, putting in kilometers and finishing the race at the back of the pack.

Caricasulo also had a good start, gaining a position at the end of the first lap. The Italian rider maintained a steady pace throughout the race, entering the points zone in the last quarter of the race and taking P14 on the very last lap, which earned him two points.

Race 2 will take place tomorrow, starting at 04:30 CET and consisting of 18 laps. Based on the classification of the nine fastest laps recorded in Race 1, Debise will start from ninth on the grid, while Caricasulo will start from P18.

Valentin Debise

"I got off to a good start, but I quickly realised that I wasn't as comfortable on the bike as before, so I made a few mistakes. I was still fighting for the podium, but I overdid it on the brakes and crashed. Afterwards, I tried to put on a new tyre to at least try to set a good time for the Race 2 grid, but I didn't manage it, so I'll start from ninth place, but I'm sure we can still be in the mix”.

Federico Caricasulo

“Today was a positive day, first and foremost because we finished the race and racked up some useful kilometers to learn from. I also managed to score two points, which is already encouraging in this first race with the new bike. Now, of course, we have to try to improve, to understand what the bike and I need to be faster together”.

Fabio Evangelista (Team Principal)

"Our goal was to score our first points, and we succeeded. Federico had a race in which he progressed, setting good times in the final stages. Valentin wanted to shine and he did: he did well to fight in the first part of the race, and in general he didn't want to settle for less, which unfortunately led him to make a mistake in turn four. However, we are happy with the day, and now we have a Sunday ahead of us where the weather could play an important role. I am satisfied with the work of the team and the riders, everyone is giving their all and that is the most important thing”.
