Can Oncu

Fabio Evangelista (Team Principal)

Oncu celebrates his birthday with a fantastic 2nd place in Race 1, Mahendra just one step away from the top ten

First historic race day at Balaton Park, with the Yamaha BLU CRU Evan Bros Team immediately taking centre stage. On Saturday in Hungary, Can Oncu achieved a splendid 2nd place, celebrating his 22nd birthday in style, while Aldi Mahendra fought his way back up to 11th place.

Oncu got off to a perfect start, immediately taking the lead. In the following laps, the Turkish rider pulled away from the rest of the group, accumulating over a second on Manzi, the first of his pursuers. In the second half of the race, however, Oncu slowed down, losing the lead and managing the final stages intelligently to secure a valuable 2nd place.

Mahendra also got off to an excellent start, climbing up to P12 in just one lap. As the race progressed, Aldi was involved in a long series of battles for positions just outside the top ten, eventually finishing in 11th place, which was good for both spirit and the overall standings.

Race 2 will take place tomorrow, starting at 15.15 CET and consisting of 18 laps. Based on the classification of the nine fastest laps recorded in Race 1, Oncu will start from third place, while Mahendra will start from P20.

Can Oncu

“I am quite satisfied. The track is not easy and we still need to find the perfect setup, but we managed to achieve an excellent 2nd place, which is useful for the championship. Tomorrow the weather could change things, but I am calm because I know our potential”.

Aldi Mahendra

“I am happy with my race, given that starting from P20 it was not easy to get close to the top ten. I learned a lot during today's race and I hope to put it all into practice tomorrow, even if the rain could complicate things”.

Fabio Evangelista (Team Principal)

“Our first day of racing at Balaton Park was certainly positive. Can gave his all and was smart in managing the various stages of the race, achieving a well-deserved 2nd place. Aldi gave us yet another great comeback, demonstrating both his character and his speed. Now we have a lot of data to study ahead of tomorrow, where we will try to do even better”.
