Un sabato destinato a restare nella storia di ZXMOTO e di Evan Bros Racing. In Gara 1 a Portimao infatti Valentin Debise ha regalato allo ZXMOTO Factory Evan Bros Racing la prima storica vittoria nel Campionato Mondiale Supersport, dopo soli tre tentativi. Un risultato strabiliante, che sottolinea nel modo migliore la bontà di questo nuovo progetto e della 820RR, al debutto assoluto in Supersport.
Dopo aver svolto il Warm Up, con Debise e Caricasulo rispettivamente in 1° e 11° posizione, i due piloti sono scesi in pista per Gara 1. Valentin è partito bene dalla seconda casella dello schieramento, concludendo il primo giro in P2. Nel corso del secondo passaggio Debise è passato in prima posizione, iniziando ad imporre il proprio ritmo alla corsa.
Un ritmo insostenibile per gli avversari, con Valentin che ha guadagnato terreno un giro dopo l’altro, sino a transitare in solitaria sotto la bandiera a scacchi, conquistando la vittoria. Per Debise si tratta della terza vittoria in WorldSSP, la prima con i con i colori dello ZXMOTO Factory Evan Bros Racing.
Gara 1 positiva anche per Federico Caricasulo. Nonostante una partenza imperfetta dalla nona piazza, che lo ha costretto a perdere alcune posizioni, Federico ha mostrato un passo rapido e costante, che gli ha permesso di risalire proprio fino alla P9. Per il pilota italiano si tratta della prima top ten della sua stagione.
Si chiude così in maniera perfetta un sabato storico per lo ZXMOTO Factory Evan Bros Racing, che domani tornerà in pista a caccia di nuove soddisfazioni. Gara 2 scatterà alle 15 CET, sulla distanza di 17 giri. In virtù della classifica dei nove giri più veloci fatti segnare in Gara 1 Debise scatterà dalla pole position, mentre Caricasulo dalla P11. La corsa sarà visibile live su Sky Sport Arena, canale 204.

“Sono davvero felicissimo per questa vittoria! Nei primi giri sono stato tranquillo, anche perché volevo innanzitutto concludere la corsa, ma una volta passato in testa alla corsa ho mantenuto il mio passo, senza pensare agli avversari. Ogni volta che passavo sul rettilineo e guardavo la mia tabella vedevo un vantaggio maggiore sugli inseguitori, così nel finale ho potuto gestire la situazione e conquistare questa meravigliosa vittoria. Sono davvero orgoglioso del lavoro di tutta la squadra, che si merita questo successo anche più di me, dato che lavorano da mesi senza sosta. “Oggi abbiamo cercato di fare ulteriori passi in avanti rispetto a ieri, cambiando alcune cose sulla moto: siamo migliorati in alcuni aspetti ma peggiorati in altri. La partenza non è stata perfetta e ho perso un po’ di tempo nel traffico, ma ho comunque ottenuto una nona posizione positiva. Ora analizzerò i dati per capire come migliorare. Voglio fare i complimenti a Valentin e tutto il team per la vittoria: è un risultato incredibile, che rappresenta un grande stimolo anche per me”.

A Saturday destined to go down in the history of ZXMOTO and Evan Bros Racing. In Race 1 at Portimao, Valentin Debise secured ZXMOTO Factory Evan Bros Racing’s first historic victory in the Supersport World Championship, after just three attempts. An astonishing result, which perfectly highlights the quality of this new project and the 820RR, making its debut this year in Supersport.
After the Warm Up, with Debise and Caricasulo in 1st and 11th positions respectively, the two riders took to the track for Race 1. Valentin got off to a good start from second place on the grid, finishing the first lap in P2. During the second lap, Debise moved into first place, beginning to dictate the pace of the race.
It was a pace his rivals simply couldn’t keep up with, as Valentin gained ground lap after lap, eventually crossing the finish line alone to claim victory. For Debise this marks his third WorldSSP win, the first with the colors of ZXMOTO Factory Evan Bros Racing.
Race 1 was also a positive result for Federico Caricasulo. Despite a difficult start from ninth on the grid, which forced him to drop a few places, Federico showed a fast and consistent pace, allowing him to climb back up to P9. For the Italian rider, this marks his first top ten finish of the season.
This brings a historic Saturday to a perfect close for ZXMOTO Factory Evan Bros Racing, who will return to the track tomorrow in search of further success. Race 2 will start at 15 CET, over a distance of 17 laps. Based on the standings from the nine fastest laps set in Race 1, Debise will start from pole position, whilst Caricasulo will start from P11.

In the early laps I remained calm, partly because my main priority was simply to finish the race, but once I took the lead I maintained my pace without worrying about the rivals. Every time I went down the straight and looked at my board, I saw a bigger margin over my rivals, so in the final stages I was able to manage the situation and secure this wonderful victory. “Today we tried to make further progress compared to yesterday, changing a few things on the bike: we improved in some areas but got worse in others. The start wasn’t perfect and I lost a bit of time in the traffic, but I still managed a positive ninth place. Now I’ll analyze the data to see how we can improve.
