Fabio Evangelista (Team Principal)
Sunday's race was disappointing for ZXMOTO Factory Evan Bros Racing, who had to contend with a crazy and difficult Race 2 at Phillip Island, which Federico Caricasulo and Valentin Debise finished in P19 and P24 respectively.
After completing the morning warm-up in dry conditions, Caricasulo and Debise returned to the track for Race 2, which was made uncertain by the rain that fell just before the start. This condition led both ZXMOTO Factory Evan Bros Racing riders - like most of the field - to opt for rain tyres, but the rapid drying of the track changed the scenario.
Both Valentin and Federico were forced to return to the pits to fit dry tyres, which affected their final result, with both riders forced to remain at the back of the field.
With the first historic round of ZXMOTO in the World Supersport Championship now over, ZXMOTO Factory Evan Bros Racing will be back in action from 27 to 29 March in Portimao for the second round of the season.
Valentin Debise
“It wasn't the day we wanted. Unfortunately, the tyre choice made before the start didn't pay off, and the race proved difficult. It's a shame, but we leave Phillip Island aware of our potential, as demonstrated above all by the front row achieved in Superpole. I thank the team for their excellent work, we will make up for it”.
Federico Caricasulo
“Race 2 was unusual, and tyre choices played a key role. Things didn't go as hoped, but in such unpredictable races anything can happen. I'm happy with the work done with the team over the weekend, even if we still need to make some progress in order to aim for the top positions”.
Fabio Evangelista (Team Principal)
"Our first weekend of the season is over, and there are certainly some things to celebrate, starting with the excellent performance in practice and especially in Superpole, where Valentin secured an incredible front row. Today in Race 2, luck was not on our side, but that can happen when you take risks. Much more important is the progress shown by both Valentin and Federico over the weekend, and we will build on this ahead of Portimao”.
