Excellent return to the track for Steven Odendaal and the Evan Bros. WorldSSP Yamaha Team at the Aragon tests

The Evan Bros. WorldSSP Team and Steven Odendaal made a successful return to the track at the Aragon test track. After just over a month since his shoulder injury in Barcelona, Steven was able to resume his process of getting to know the reigning World Champion Yamaha YZF-R6, getting good feedback from both the bike and his body.

During the first day Odendaal made several short runs, lasting around five laps, and by the end of the day he had completed a total of 46 laps. Despite a small crash in turn one during the afternoon Steven was able to steadily improve his performance, achieving a best time of 1'55"165.

In day 2 of the Aragonese tests the South African rider continued, together with crew chief Mauro Pellegrini and the entire team, to search for the best set-up. Having to deal with a shoulder in great improvement but not yet at 100% Odendaal has completed 42 laps, improving its reference to stop the clock on 1'54 "676.

The Evan Bros. WorldSSP Yamaha Team is now ready to continue its testing programme: next weekend (14-15-16 May) the team from Ravenna will be present as a wild card in Navarra, for the second round of the ESBK season. This commitment will be the last before the start of the season, set for 21-22-23 May at the Aragon circuit.

Steven Odendaal: "I'm happy with the results obtained in this test, from many points of view. On the first day I started to regain confidence with my body, since I couldn't know how it would go, and I got good responses, although I'm not yet at 100% condition. Today I definitely felt an improvement, both physically and technically: I was able to make some set-up changes, taking a step forward. I'm sure that at Navarra the situation will be better, and I thank the team for the great effort made in these days".

Fabio Evangelista (Team Principal): "We are very satisfied with the two days of testing, as Steven's right shoulder condition was definitely to be checked. The fact that he completed more than 40 laps on both days is a great result: Steven gritted his teeth and was able to ride very well. We hope his recovery will be as quick as possible, and to help him get back on the bike we will be at Navarra next weekend for the ESBK round. We can undoubtedly consider these tests positive, and we look to the future with great confidence".
