Can Oncu

Fabio Evangelista (Team Principal)

Oncu takes another valuable podium in Race 2 in France, Surra crashes while battling for the lead

The weekend ended in France for the Yamaha BLU CRU Evan Bros Team, with a Race 2 full of twists and turns. Can Oncu confirmed his 2nd place after leading the race for long parts, while Alberto Surra crashed in the early stages of the race.

Oncu got off to an excellent start, maintaining first position and immediately setting a fast pace for the race. The Turkish rider quickly pulled away from his rivals, building up a lead of over three seconds. In the second half of the race, Oncu had to contend with Manzi closing in, who managed to get back on his slipstream in the final stages. Can suffered an attack from his rival on the last lap, crossing the chequered flag in second place.

Surra also got off to a brilliant start, moving up to second place on the first lap and immediately getting on the slipstream of leader Oncu. During the third lap, Alberto crashed in turn 3, ending his race prematurely.

Thanks to the weekend's results, Oncu is now second in the overall standings with 275 points, while Sura is P23 with 16 points. In the team standings, the Yamaha BLU CRU Evan Bros Team maintains its lead with a total of 364 points. The team will be back in action from 26 to 28 September at the Spanish circuit of Aragon for the tenth round of the season.

Can Oncu

"Unfortunately, I missed out on the final part of the race, so I had to settle for second place, but this must be an incentive to work and improve. We achieved two podiums over the weekend, so the overall result is very positive, even though I obviously have a slightly bitter taste in my mouth because victory was so close. Anything can happen in motorcycling, so we're not giving up: we'll see what happens in the next round, for which I want to prepare myself as best I can”.

Alberto Surra

“It was a good day, even though I'm very disappointed about the crash. The positive side is that I was fighting for first place and, together with the team, I managed to take another step forward, so I'm leaving Magny-Cours with great confidence. I'm sure we'll be even more competitive at Aragon”.

Fabio Evangelista (Team Principal)

“It was a Sunday of ups and downs. Oncu had an excellent race, even if the ending was not what we all hoped for. However, his great speed and consistency remain, qualities with which we will battle until the last round. Surra got off to a good start and proved to be fast again today, but unfortunately a crash ended his race. His first weekend with the team and in Supersport remains very valuable. Finally, I am very happy for Yamaha's manufacturers' title: having contributed significantly to achieving this goal makes me and our team very proud”.
