Can Oncu

Fabio Evangelista (Team Principal)

Podium finish for Oncu in Race 1 at Estoril, positive P6 for Surra

A complex Sunday for the Yamaha BLU CRU Evan Bros Team, which nevertheless managed to play a leading role. In Race 2, Alberto Surra clinched a positive 5th place, while Can Oncu, after a good first half of the race, was forced to settle for 9th place.

At the start, Surra had to contend with a less than optimal start, finishing the first lap in sixth position. In the first part of the race, Alberto managed the less than ideal feeling, dropping back to P8, but then improved in the final stages, managing to climb back up to fifth place, less than a second off the podium.

Oncu, on the other hand, got off to an excellent start, finishing the first lap in the lead. The Turkish rider remained in contention for the podium until the last five laps of the race, when a significant drop in performance forced him into a defensive finish, where Oncu managed to secure 9th position.

Thanks to the results achieved over the weekend, Oncu remains in 2nd place in the overall standings with 425 points, while Surra moves up to P19 with 51 points. In the team standings, the Yamaha BLU CRU Evan Bros Team maintains its lead with 467 points, 40 more than its closest rival. The Yamaha BLU CRU Evan Bros Team will be back on track from 17th to 19th October in Jerez for the final round of the season.

Can Oncu

“Today I struggled more than expected, especially in the second half of the race, but we still don't know exactly why. It wasn't the Sunday we wanted, but we can only think about how to improve, to end the season in the best possible way in Jerez”.

Alberto Surra

“It was a great race: I'm happier than I was after Race 1. I made some good overtakes, some of them from the outside. I struggled a bit in the early stages of the race, but then I regained confidence in the final stages. Being close to the best in the category is a great confidence boost: it's a sign that we're working well. If I get the chance to race at Jerez, I hope to improve further. I'd like to thank the team for their great work again this weekend”.

Fabio Evangelista (Team Principal)

"It wasn't the Sunday we wanted. We thought we would do better than yesterday, but it didn't turn out that way. The riders gave their all, but something didn't work, so we'll look at the data to see where we can improve. Surra managed to react in the final stages and take a great fifth place, while Oncu had to deal with a big drop in performance and could only finish the race on the defensive. Overall, it wasn't the perfect weekend, but we scored important points in the team world championship, for which we will fight in Jerez”.
