Fabio Evangelista (Team Principal)

Debise just a few centimetres off the podium in Race 1, Caricasulo fast but unlucky

Race 1 is now in the books for the EASTROC ZXMOTO Evan Bros Factory team in Cremona, with bittersweet results. In a race shortened from 20 to 13 laps following a red flag, Valentin Debise narrowly missed out on the podium, finishing the race in fourth place. Federico Caricasulo had to settle for 26th place, though he put in a strong performance with an eye on Race 2.

At the start, Debise immediately gained positions, finishing the first lap in sixth place. As the race progressed, Valentin remained within the group battling for the top positions, securing fourth place in the closing stages, just 134 thousandths off the podium.

Caricasulo’s race became complicated in the early stages, when contact with another rider forced Federico onto a long digression down the runoff area, leaving him in last place. In the following laps the Italian rider therefore focused on setting a fast lap time, which would secure him a place in the first three rows of the grid for Race 2, obtaining  an excellent 1’31”886, which earned him sixth place on the Race 2 grid.

Tomorrow the EASTROC ZXMOTO Evan Bros Factory team will return to the track for Race 2, which will start at 14.00 CET and run over 20 laps. Based on the top nine fastest times from Race 1, Debise will start from P3 and therefore from the front row, whilst Caricasulo will start from P6.

Valentin Debise

“Both I and the team gave it our all, so we should be pleased. The race didn’t go quite as we’d hoped, although I managed to improve since yesterday and it wasn’t a foregone conclusion that we’d be fighting for the podium right until the end, especially starting from P8 on the grid. It was great to see so many people in the stands cheering on the team: tomorrow, together with the team, I’ll try to give them an even better result”.

Federico Caricasulo

“When you start from the back of the grid anything can happen, and in fact today I was taken out by another rider. I’m satisfied nonetheless, as I managed to set several fast laps alone. Tomorrow I’ll be starting from sixth on the grid tomorrow, and that definitely changes the picture. I hope to achieve a good result”.

Fabio Evangelista (Team Principal)

“Valentin did a good race: I don’t think he could have done any better. Obviously, it’s a shame to have missed out on the podium, but he’s gained points on his rivals in the championship, and that’s very positive. Federico was taken out by another rider, so his race became complicated straight away, but he still managed to set some excellent lap times. Tomorrow our riders will start from the first two rows, so I’m very confident about both of them”.
