A dubious penalty deprives Debise of a deserved 3rd place on Sunday in Most

Bittersweet Sunday for the Evan Bros WorldSSP in Most. In Race 2 in fact Valentin Debise again fought for the podium, taking third place with a race full of spirit, but a penalty received after the chequered flag dropped him to fourth place.

After a good start from P4, Debise remained in the fight for the top positions throughout the race. In the final part of the race, the French rider dueled with Montella for third position: on the last lap Valentin suffered the attack of his rival in the chicane of corners 1-2, obligatorily having to widen his trajectory, and thus having to pass in the part of asphalt colored on blue and placed next to the external kerb of corner 2.

During the rest of the lap Debise defended the situation well, among other things being hit on the exhaust by Montella, but this defence proved useless once the race was over. However, the fourth position allows the Frenchman to take fourth place in the overall standings, with 130 points. The Evan Bros WorldSSP Yamaha Team will be back on track from 9th to 11th August at the Portimao circuit, for the seventh round of the season.

Valentin Debise
"Losing a podium like this hurts, as I don't think I did anything irregular or wrong. Anyway, I can console myself with another beautiful race: this weekend we were really fast, fighting for the podium both on Saturday and Sunday. We leave Most really motivated: I can't wait to get back on track".

Fabio Evangelista (Team Principal)

"We are disappointed about this stupid penalty. Valentin was driven out and could do nothing but pass on the blue part beyond the kerb. Some of the current rules are creating confusion, and unfortunately today we were penalized. However, I am satisfied with Valentin's race, we gained 29 points over the weekend and were constantly in the top group”.
