Fernandez in the points thanks to a fantastic comeback, Mantovani 17th

A weekend in growth for the Evan Bros. WorldSSP Yamaha Team, which on Sunday in Barcelona conquered the points zone. Thanks to an excellent Adrian Fernandez, who as a wild card managed to take 15th place, despite starting from the last spot of the grid. Andrea Mantovani's performance was also positive, one step away from the points zone with 17th place.

After finishing the warm up in 20th and 27th respectively, Mantovani and Fernandez took to the track for Race 2, on a dry track despite the leaden sky of Barcelona. Starting as mentioned from the last place, Adrian gained seven positions in the first lap, climbing up to 17th place by the middle of the race.

In the second part of the race, the Spanish rider managed to win the duel with Montella, taking a valuable 15th position, as well as his first point in WorldSSP, on his debut in the category. Mantovani had to reckon with a complicated start, which forced him to recover from 27th place: Andrea managed to keep a steady pace, climbing up to 17th position.

With the Catalan weekend over, the Evan Bros. WorldSSP Yamaha will now take a two-week break to analyze the data gathered so far and make progress, ahead of the first of two home rounds on the calendar. The next round will in fact be staged at Misano, from 2 to 4 June.

Andrea Mantovani - P17
"At the start some riders were very aggressive, so I lost a few positions. I was happy with my pace in the rest of the race, so much so that I was able to recover on those ahead of me. Unfortunately I couldn't attack at the end, because the tyres went down, but overall it was a fun race. See you at Misano!"

Adrian Fernandez - P15
"I really enjoyed myself today, and it was a shame to start from last position. During the weekend I learnt a lot of things, dealing with a demanding championship. The team really helped me to improve constantly: I thank them for their support and the opportunity".  Fabio Evangelista ( Team Principal)
"We ended the weekend with a positive race. Adrian was very good, making a really incredible comeback. Andrea would also have deserved the points zone by virtue of his speed, but unfortunately it didn't go as hoped. We managed to improve with both riders over the weekend, which is a very good sign for the rest of the season”.
