Diligent Race 2 for Mantovani at Mandalika

Race Sunday for the Evan Bros. WorldSSP Yamaha Team, who took to the track at Mandalika for Race 2. The final race of the weekend did not bring the hoped-for results, with Andrea Mantovani passing under the chequered flag in 17th position.

After clocking eight laps in the warm up, Mantovani took part in Race 2. After a negative start Andrea tried to recover positions but, once he had served the long lap penalty imposed on him yesterday by the race direction, the Italian rider was alone in 18th position, thus seeing his chances of a comeback disappear, and finishing the race in P17.

After the weekend at Mandalika the Evan Bros. WorldSSP Yamaha Team will now have more than a month to analyze the work done in the first two rounds of the season, before kicking off the European season. The third round will in fact be staged at the Assen circuit, from 21 to 23 April.

Andrea Mantovani - P17
"The first objective today was to finish the race, although I was obviously hoping for another result. Unfortunately the long lap penalty prevented me from staying with the group, but we can consider this race as a new starting point. I thank the team for their great work, we will try again at Assen”.

Fabio Evangelista (Team Principal)
"Today Andrea needed to regain confidence, and without the long lap the points would have been within his reach. Leaving Indonesia without points is a shame: now we have to restart from zero, to recover quickly already at Assen".
