Andrea Locatelli and the BARDAHL Evan Bros. WorldSSP Team dominators of the first day of practice at Jerez de la Frontera

It took place today at the Andalusian circuit of Jerez de la Frontera the first day of practice of the second round of the World Supersport season, with the BARDAHL Evan Bros. WorldSSP Team immediately protagonist. Despite the torrid heat in fact Andrea Locatelli was able to conquer the first position in both free practice sessions, thus being the best in the combined standings.

In the FP1 of the morning Locatelli and his Yamaha YZF-R6 have conquered the top of the standings after just ten minutes from the beginning of the session. 1'42"998 the time set by the rider from Bergamo, 411 thousandths better than the second classified. A first session after the break to be framed, only slightly tainted by a little crash in turn two, which caused no particular problems either to the rider or the bike.

In the afternoon the asphalt and air temperatures have risen significantly, reaching 44 and 35 degrees respectively. As a result Locatelli was unable to improve on the morning's lap time, but he was able to close in front of everyone once again, finishing 935 thousandths down on the first of his rivals with his 1'43"115. It was an important result, especially because it was set at a time very similar to Race 1 time.

The appointment now is for the FP3 tomorrow morning (09.30), which will be followed by the Superpole (11.40). In the afternoon, at 15.15, will be staged the first of the two races of the weekend, as required by the new WorldSSP regulations for the 2020 season. The race will be live on SkySport MotoGP, channel 208 of the Sky platform.

Andrea Locatelli: "Beyond the result it has been a challenging day, as we had never raced in these conditions here at Jerez, and I am still getting to know the new Pirelli tyres. The small crash in the morning didn't allow me to work as I would have liked but I am still very satisfied with the work done by the team and the times set. I am very happy to have two races available from this weekend, tomorrow we will have the first one and I am very excited about it: we will need to be even more concentrated than usual. I am ready for Race 1, we will have fun".
