Caricasulo on pole for World SSP at Jerez. Second place for Krummenacher

Sunny skies and a perfect track at Jerez for the second day of practice and Superpole making up this sixth round of the Supersport world championship.
Yesterday the two Bardahl Evan Bros. riders Federico Caricasulo and Randy Krummenacher, confirmed their status as championship frontrunners, finishing first and second respectively in both of the day’s free practice sessions. This morning, the pair were back on track for the final practice, in which they refined the set-up of their Yamaha YZF R6 machines ahead of the afternoon’s Superpole. The Bardahl Evan Bros. riders were unable to improve on their best times of yesterday, but nevertheless retained first and second position.
In Superpole, Krummenacher first completed a few laps on a used tyre, the best of which in 1’41”775, already an improvement on his best lap of the weekend up until that point. With a fresh tyre, the Swiss rider set about completing a fast lap but unfortunately the heat made for a slippery track and he crashed unable to resume the session. Despite this, the rider finished in second place overall.
First place went to an extremely fast Caricasulo, who exploited the fresh tyres in the final phase and stopped the clock on 1’41”586, a new fastest lap at Jerez.
Federico will start from pole tomorrow, alongside team-mate Krummenacher, in the 19-lap Supersport race.

Randy Krummenacher: “Superpole went well, despite a crash but that can happen when you’re pushing to the max. I further improved on my time and that’s very important. Federico made a very fast lap and so congratulations to him. I think I still have room for improvement, though we’ve already found a good solution and I have excellent pace which leaves me confident for the race. Thanks to my team for all their work”.

Federico Caricasulo: “I made a really exceptional lap. We worked hard on the flying lap yesterday, while now we have to focus on race pace, though I’m already quite pleased with what we have. We’ll check the data to see where we can improve further. Big thanks to my team for having given me a very fast bike”.
